November - HOME
My intention with this newsletter is to share with you beautiful people a glimpse into what fuels my creative fire. Ill be sharing images from creatives spaces that i find inspiring. I thought i’d start with my own home and talk a little bit about what inspires me when decorating.
This isn’t to sell you anything or push a product, its simply to share a passion of mine. It a platform for creativity and empowerment.
I hope you enjoy these snapshots of my home and cannot wait to bring you the next creatives space, …
My dream with this project is to create a small hard copy publication at the end of each year, so stay tuned for that!
This vintage kimono is one of my most favourite vintage pieces! I acquired it when working as the manager of a Red Cross store in Newtown syd. Its double sided and simply divine, it has come with me through many a move and worn at festivals or by friends on an evening of drinks, fire and warmth from the summery sun.
It reminds me that although life can be rough sometimes delicate things are robust and can withstand the tales of time and a few lives.
Our new stereo system, A birthday present for Bonn! To accompany our vast cd collection. This has always been a dream and when it finally came true i spoke about it to anyone who would listen.
An incredible hand sewn robe with hood under a traditional indian dress. Both found while op shopping. The colours in both of these pieces are such a joy to encounter. I hang clothes purely because of their beauty, i find that it adds texture and depth to a space.
An avet (what is this word?! help) tarot lover, i received this Tarot, The library of Esoterica by Jessica Hudley for my birthday. I really love how it showcases a large array of tarot decks from many different artists.
This Sandalwood rope incense is insanely good! its from Fire and Flood the store i part owner with business partners Amber Hearn and Kevina Jo Smith. If you’re a local defiantly go grab yourself one!
A place for the pretty things! I recently found this mid century set of drawers of our local pay it forward group.
Basil and rocket pots.
Testing a new product. Veils, in all different colours, something to peek through, something to protect and shield.
A doorway to the outer world and a veil to the inner one.
CLOTHES! my most favourite form of self expression, all vintage or second hand, i don’t buy new often. My clothes have been collected over my many lives, i thoroughly enjoy getting dressed everyday.
Records, paints, books, cards and incense.
Art swap with my darling friend Lulu May Samuel
My trolls! some may find this odd BUT they are hand made and painted. I have an extremely deep connection to the fae realms, these trolls were found in an op shop (i know!) and i value their presence greatly. When i was young my cousin had elves exactly like this and as a child i desperately wanted to keep them for myself, which of course couldn’t happen because they weren’t mine. But finding these trolls gave me a sense of worth that i didn’t know was missing, they gave me back a piece of my childhood that was greatly lacking and for that i am forever grateful
My most used tarot deck, called The After Tarot by Pietro Alligo and Giulia F. Massaglia it depictes the step directly after the original tarot by Edward Waite. Tarot is an interesting divination tool for everyday life.
Lying on a bed of plant dyed silk, madder root and himalayan rhubarb.
SILVER is my favourite form of adornment! I like to jingle as i walk, the fairy bells remind me that i am more than just my human form. Silver helps me feel connected to my inner home.
My collection is an accumulation of bought and vintage silver, my recent favourites are Sun earrings from Madeline Harris, a custom opal ring from Studio Loom and a huge statement piece from a very well loved Blue Mountains local Cindy Smith who is no longer making, i received one of her last 10 pieces.
Plus a good collection of my plant dyed silk scrunchies.
BELOW is our bedroom in the cloud, a loft room (another dream) covered in Moroccan rugs.
Lately i have really been enjoying instrumental background music, i have an affinity for the early 1900’s so anything that sounds dreamy and like its being played on an old phonogram blissfully carries me away to another time.
This is my current favourite artist Alabaster Deplume
Above is an artist swap with jeweller and mother Madeline Harris Studio
